Voujon in Brough is the sister restaurant of Voujon in Anlaby and newly opened above Café Indulge. Tucked away up a glass staircase the restaurant is surprisingly spacious and the smell warm and inviting.
We ate on a Monday night and were the only diners in the place but the waiter informed us that since they’ve been open weekends are almost always fully booked, so make sure to call in advance if you want a weekend table.
The waiters, attentive and friendly throughout the meal, provided us with hot, crisp popadoms and a dip selection, including a tart mango chutney. The menu is expansive but not intimidatingly large and the waiters were happy to answer any questions we had, including going the extra length to check ingredients for a member of our party with a nut allergy.
The curries, a chicken balti and chicken madras, were well flavoured and strong without being uncomfortably spicy and came with delicately flavoured rice. The chicken sag was a good mixture of savory, salty chicken and sweet spinach. The naan was fluffy, doughy and hot. The garlic naan could have been more flavourful but was enjoyable nonetheless.
The prices were very reasonable; dinner for three including drinks came to just over £44a and left our party full and satisfied. If you are looking for good Indian food then Voujon would be a place to try.
Voujon do their menu to takeaway and for weekends make sure to book.
